Mentorship Program Meeting started at 9:00 PM Eastern time. Dr. Sheik greets the members and confirms that 5 regional chapters have been created for members. We have created whatsapp chats and are looking for people interested in becoming the chair of the young Abdalian Association. After Ramdan a volunteer will begin to call every member to confirm member information. Dr. Raza believes we can help support the young Abdalians chapter. 50th and higher will be considered in the young entry. Dr. Sheik introduced a new endowment fund presented by the 21st . It will be an endowment fund by Dr. Raza’s class. It is proposed to be called the AANA’s 21st endowment fund. Once the fund is established they plan to communicate to other members to contribute to the fund. Profits will go to scholarships for students. A plan is proposed to maybe encourage different classes to start their own fund to fund scholarships for students abroad. Dr. Saqib has already created QR codes for people to donate so that they can look for a way to increase donation rates. It is proposed to also have lunch at the Washington retreat for AANA to discuss AANA’s plan and discuss donations. The mentorship program has started to kick in and it is showing an influx on the physician side. We are looking for more engineer mentors and Dr. Raza has provided some names to help aid the find. This program can be more efficient once we have a members database fully completed so we can reach out to others for potential mentors for these students. Meeting ended at 9:30 PM Eastern time.

Availability of different restaurants within the Gaylord National Resort had already been looked upon by Usman Bhutta. Cost concerns for reservation were also discussed and it was finally decided that arrangement/reservation for a table to accommodate 30+ people will be made for now in one of these restaurants onsite and make any changes as needed depending upon total number of Abdalinas who planned to attend the meeting.Saqib Sheikh also to reach out to Naveed Ahmad and Zubair Niazi, to physically look at the site and discuss arrangementsOptions for fundraising for scholarship during this meeting also discussed in detail among the team members. Use of QR code as well as Square devices/app also planned.Waseem Ullah had previously brought up the concern in regards to continued management of the AAN website and also recommended looking for professional services with a company. This was thoroughly discussed during this meeting and Saqib Sheikh to proceed with contacting couple of vendors and get quote for website management.Saqib updated the team in regards to recent signing of MOU with CCH EFT chief operating officer Dr. Saeed Qureshi for the 21st entry Endowment fund established with ANNA. The draft of this MOU had previously been shared with the group and approved by EC.Engagement of more Abdalinas into the process and establishment of WhatsApp groups including the one for young Abdalins was also discussed, techniques to further expand and get more people involved was also discussed.Meeting in June and at 8:30 PM CST

Possible locations discussed including “The Renaissance Hotel and Marriott located in the area of “The Shops at Legacy”. EC Members plan to go and explore the location again in the next week or so.Saqib Sheikh informed the group on the fundraising efforts and collection so far at the D.C event where about $10,000 dollars were raised. Imran Ali then presented the breakdown of the money received via Square Account and Zelle. Team discussed use of funds including contribution towards endowment fund.Team discussed starting a campaign request to Abdalians for consideration of a monthly donation to AANA, with prime objective to fund the student scholarships for CCH cadets who qualify.Imran Ali presented the Financials and explained that all the money invested in Vanguard in two different funds, discussed the returns so far. Slaman Khan proposed use of funds for a perpetual growth and scholarship support for college.Saqib Sheikh and Salman Khan informed the group about the Principal’s US visit and recent meeting with him in Dallas. Group discussed the innovative teaching methods in college and need for mechanisms to support young Abdalians here in US. Also discussed Principal’s request for transfer of funds via AANA to support a CCH Conference activity but can not be supported. conference to the AANA Account, to which the team disagreed with. Dr Imran wants to emphasize the fact that AANA is an independent organization. In regards to the website, Dr. Sheik has reached out to request 2 more quotes for a brand new website. The cost for initial development will be around $3,000-$4,000 as well as a monthly maintenance cost that will total to around $4,000- $5,000 annually. However, Dr Sheik says he will continue to look for quotes. Dr Imran highlighted the concern of the high price for the new website. Dr Waseem explained that the reason they need a new website is because he had to shut down many other projects just to run this website and the AIMCAANA website due to the cost. Dr Sheik highlighted the importance of expanding and including more people to help with the development of the website; furthermore Dr Sheik is hoping to reach out to more people to help make the fundraising more robust. The question asked is “what do people gauge AANA with?” The answer is a good, functioning website.

Raza Khan recommended that Abalians above the 50th entry should be in the Young Abdalians Group. Saqib Sheikh updated the team on creation of 21st Entry Endowment Fund with AANA. Establishing this endowment has been discussed with Imran Ali who is working on its creation and AANA Executive Committee has already approved it. Representatives from 21st entry here in US will guide AANA with purpose of contributing to Need Based Scholarships for CCH deserving students. Team also discussed proposal to encourage different classes to start similar funds.Team discussed need for collecting funds, a link on AANA website is available and a QR code is already created, and will be shared in all Abdalian groups. It was proposed to have a lunch at the Washington APPNA summer meeting. Saqib to reach out to Naveed Ahmad and Zubair Niazi to work on arrangements. Team discussed mentorship program to be started as there has been an increased influx of applications for mentorship/observership. Current balance in checking account is $36,224.79 and in Vanguard Investment is $88,361.34 and in Saturna contains $5009.36. Members discussed more effective use of funds and agreed to move $20,000 from Bank to Vanguard. (These funds are readily available to move back to the back account in case a need arises).Imran Ali also updated members on sending documents for tax returns. Team discussed current fee being paid to stripe (currently 6% per transaction) for funds/donations received electronically and explore further options as well as contact stripe for better transfer rate. It was also decided to provide disclaimer to donors about these fees when they make a donation.Saqib Sheikh discussed website access for running reports on donations and share with Imran Ali. Team discussed immediate delivery of receipts for tax refundable donations to all donors with its 501c3 status.Waseem Ullah proposed use of QuickBooks for better bookkeeping and streamline records, to be further explored.Saqib Sheikh reported on efforts to establish AANA Chapters and reaching out to class representatives and having a focused membership committee. Also develop a Young Abdalians Committee for increased engagement. Process of continuing need-based scholarships at college discussed. Reaching out to membership and encourage participation by entry discussed for sustained yearly scholarships.Zubair Niazi discussed the process of enrolling teachers from CCH for advanced training here in the US for 6-8 weeks and current challenges being faced. The team also looked into possibilities of advanced teacher training online and at other institutes in Pakistan.Re-starting newsletter on a quarterly basis to update the AANA membership and having the meeting minutes available on the website was discussed and agreed.The meeting adjourned at 9:45 PM EST.
